Leading Tones Music is pleased to announce a call for new percussion scores! We are looking to expand our catalog to include original grade-level (1-5) works for percussion ensemble as well as band works that place the percussion section front and center. We are especially interested in pieces that have a mixed-ability level or flexible scoring component. Selected works will be published on our website and marketed to band directors worldwide. Leading Tones composers receive 60% royalties on sales.
We will accept submissions under the following categories:
I. Percussion ensemble: 3-5 parts are ideal, but this is not a strict requirement.
II. Percussion feature + band: Ideally these works will feature one or more percussion instruments as soloist(s) with a grade level 1-5 band accompaniment. Band pieces without soloists will be considered so long as the percussion section is significantly more active than in a typical grade 1-5 band arrangement.
III. Works featuring quints, marching snare, and tonal basses with band.
How to Submit:
Submissions should be sent to [email protected] with the subject heading "Call for Percussion Works," and should include the following:
1.) A PDF of the score and a recording if available (MIDI is acceptable). There is no limit to the number of works featuring the outlined parameters that a composer may submit.
2.) A short composer bio and (optional) website URL. There is no age restriction and no application fee.
Selected composers will be asked to provide a Finale or Sibelius file of their piece to assist with the publication process.
The deadline to submit scores is August 15, 2022.
