Leading Tones Music's FlexSound Series
Founded by conductor/arranger Robert J. Ambrose, this collection of highly adaptable works was created specifically for ensembles with smaller or inconsistent instrumentation. This project follows Ambrose’s work as co-founder of the Creative Repertoire Initiative, a group of composers and conductors who came together during the pandemic to create high level adaptable music. It was further inspired by Ambrose’s many guest conducting engagements in Finland, a country with many smaller wind bands, for whom adaptable music is in great demand.
Leading Tones Music has considerable experience in the adaptable music space, including an extensive catalogue of pieces created in a unique collaboration with the Chicago Public Schools. So, the pairing of Ambrose’s project with us is a natural fit. Together with composer Marja Ikonen and a growing roster of composers, including many from Finland, Leading Tones Music is excited to present this new series. We hope it will create more possibilities for your ensemble!
