Jacob Nurse, born April 16th, 1989, in Harrison Township, Michigan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from Eastern Michigan University. While attending Eastern, he studied saxophone with Dr. Max Plank, piano with Professor Larisa Simington and music composition with Dr. Anthony Iannaccone, an alumni of the Eastman School of Music. He has been writing music since he was 14 years old, with his compositions being premiered and recorded throughout the state of Michigan. Now residing in Arizona, he is a music educator for students Kindergarten through 8th grade, is an active performer, has toured with several local bands while currently performing with the Arizona Wind Symphony, and has invested in bringing new music to groups through unique composition and performance opportunities.
His music spans a variety of ensembles, including: instrumental chamber music, choral music, instrumental solos, co-writing, directing and producing an original musical, music for Wind Ensemble and orchestra. He has written for all ages and ability levels and has been receiving an increase in commissions from around the United States in recent years. Writing music is his greatest passion. He enjoys working with students on composition and theory through performance opportunities, through teaching and as a clinician. |
