Mr. Janne Ikonen (b. in 1975, Lieksa, Finland) is from Lieksa (the host town for the world renowned Lieksa Brass Week), so his experience of brass and wind music has started understandably at a very young age. Most of his compositions have originally been created for a youth orchestra and he has made especially lots of introductory material for aspiring young bands. Mr. Ikonen studied classical composing at the Sibelius Academy and is currently finishing his master studies in music education in the University of Jyväskylä. In 2003 he graduated as percussion player after studies in the Concervatory of Central Finland. Ikonen has been sought after educator in Estonia and Latvia. Ikonen had his first composition concert during Lieksa Brass Week in 2003 and made his U.S debut concert as composer in 2012 (composition concerts in Lake Placid and Plattsburgh, NY). He has also had composition concerts in Finland in 2013 and 2017. His works have been recorded by several wind ensembles and two of his compositions have been filmed as a music video and can be found from youtube. |
