About this Piece Jukka Viitasaari
A String of Winds, as the name implies, combines String Instruments and Wind Instruments and weaves them together with a large percussion section. The work can also be performed without a string section. The ostinato pattern that runs throughout the work revolves around instrumental groups, and the soloist's role varies. The most challenging in the whole soup is the trumpet opening fanfare.
The premiere of the work was at the 5th National Music Education Days at the FiSME event in Tampere Hall on 19 November 2021, trained and conducted by Reetta Sipilä. |
